LOVE & SELF-DISCIPLINE

With so much hatred and mistrust in the world today implemented by the actions of the US and Israeli governments it clutters the video news space. Fortunately there is relief on You Tube and documentaries on the AlJazeera channel.

We came across a documentary on AlJazeera titled China's Military Camps for Kids. It is a 101 East documentary. The focus is in two children in the camp that are sensing their children that are sent there for SELF-DISCIPLINE.

Baoli is a 9-year-old boy that weighs 70 kilos. He claims that all he wants in life is to be tall and thin. Wei Wei is an 11-year-old girl with a birth deformity. Her parents feel the camp will be good for her future. She admits other children tease her about her deformity but she tunes it out and focuses on going forward in life.

The takeaway from the doc relates to an interview that I did with Aaron Spelling the producer of the hit shows 90210 and Melrose Place. I related to him that in my travels through Asia his shows were viewed by a number of college and high school teenagers I talked to.

His reply was children are children everywhere. He noted that he received mail from all over the world from youths that enjoy his shows.

Basically that is the main message that we took away from China's Military Camps for children. In addition to that is good parents are the same everywhere. They love their children and want to do the best for them and their futures. As much as the US government wants to demonize China this documentary shows what the average person in China is all about, love and caring not… war.

Spelling passed away but his legacy lives on as well as his message of people being simply people. When we evolve from being racist and separatist the level up is realizing we are all human beings and that is the highest level.

This documentary relates to just that. It displays parents love for their children and instructors receiving respect and love from the children from their training. Two of the children including Baoli were in tears when one of the instructors came into their room to say goodbye since his time there was up.

In the beginning of the documentary he was so tough on them that another instructor came to him and pointed out not to be so tough and that the training was about discipline. That instructor then took over the instruction.

The tough instructor receiving tears from these campers when he was departing is an extremely moving scene.

Since interviewing Spelling I traveled to China and traveled there for a month. I had a rough start since I didn't know my PIN number for the account that I had deposited money for the trip. That was my ignorance.

The turnaround was how helpful many Chinese people were to me. From the start when I was looking at my map to locate me hotel several people offered their help.

I was asked several times in two cities if I wanted to join them in their basketball games. In one case it was from military guards that were guarding a site I was in. They were playing and I asked if I could take a shot. They refused. I asked please. They then let the old man take a shot.

My go to shot is a hook shot from the foul line which is further out than Kareem Abdul Jabbar took his. I missed the shot but was close. I requested if I could try again. I missed again. I asked to try for the last time. I made it. Then they asked me if I wanted to join them in their game.

The bottom line is we as human beings need to respect all human beings on equal terms. It took a black man in America named Rodney King to bring that to light. After having his head based in by a swarm of Los Angles' California's finest police he eventually was awarded a million dollar law suite. His question was WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?

This documentary shows the Chinese people in a positive light, NOT THE NEGATIVITY expressed by the US government. Spelling said it best PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE EVERYWHERE.

THIS IS A human interest MUST WATCH & ENTERTAINING DOCUMENTARY.
